Spring Daffodil,still life,oil on canvas,7x5,price$125
Today's painting is of a Spring flower, the daffodil. Painted with new plein air brushes by da Vinci that I bought from a friend. I didn't know that they made plein air brushes. They have shorter bristles. I think after using them, I like the longer bristles for they have more flexibility to them. But I'll try them out on the field next. Happy spring.

More Manderines,still life,oil on canvas,8x8,price$275
Today I painted organic mandarines from Trader Joe's. I wanted to paint fast and thick. So i think that is how the painting ended up. This morning my husband and I drove down to Skagit Valley to photograph the tulip and daffodils. Only a few tulip fields were out, but the daffodil fields were. It was rainy and foggy. Just how it is most often here in the Northwest. So this week I'll paint from some of the pictures. I'll get down to Skagit with my paints in a week or so.

Paint Tubes,still life,oil on canvas,6x6,price$200
This is today's painting of some of my paint tubes. I'm happy with this painting. I have 2 other paintings like this that I did a year ago. I tried Gamblin's Cold Wax Medium today on some small paintings that I did back before Christmas. It gives a very even matte finish to the painting. I much prefer the shinny high gloss varnish look. But this is an experiment. I ended up putting varnish, Gamvar, over three of the waxed paintings. It made the finish more glossy but not a high gloss.
